Tax Accountant | Central Manchester (1-2 days in the office per month) | £50,000 - £55,000 

Axon Moore have partnered with a key client who are looking to add a Tax Accountant to their team on a full time permament basis. This is an exceptional business who, since receiving PE investment, have grown their turnover from £50m to £200m both organically and through a number of acquisitions. 

We have placed a number of Finance professionals with the business in the last 2-3 years so know the teams extremely well and what it takes to succeed here! 

Reporting to the Tax Manager, this role is responsible for the tax accounting and administration for the group. This role will also involve working closely with the Group Financial Controller, Group Finance Manager, as well as the wider finance team

Salary and benefits:

Salary £50,000 - £55,000 + discretionary annual company bonus. Up to 12% pension, 25 days holiday + bank + your birthday off. Discounts and employee assistance programme.

Responsibilities include:
  • Ensure compliance with VAT return deadlines, preparing VAT returns for the Group of companies
  • Prepare preliminary corporation tax computations for annual financial reporting purposes
  • Coordinate the annual corporation tax compliance cycle, liaising with external advisors and internal finance teams
  • Provide employment tax support to the Payroll / HR teams, including coordination of annual employment tax returns
  • Maintain the Group’s tax database and deal with administrative matters for indirect tax, corporation tax and employment tax as required
  • Prepare payment requests for indirect tax, corporation tax and employment tax
  • Provide support for the annual external audit process
  • Assist with forecasting for all tax aspects in terms of liabilities and cash flows
  • Support the Tax Manager in developing the Tax Control Framework including testing and process improvements
  • Provide support for ad-hoc tax issues as and when required
Person Specification: 
  • Part or qualified tax accountant (AAT, ATT or equivalent)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Possess strong numeracy and analytical skills, with the desire to learn new technical skills
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to anticipate and coordinate deliverables for multiple deadlines
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
