Axon Moore is exclusively representing the CEO and CFO of a rapidly growing, Manchester-based technology/software business as they look to appoint a Head of Finance for the first time. We are seeking a high calibre and driven individual that is on an upwards trajectory in their career and is looking for an opportunity to work towards their first CFO role.
Doubling in size year on year, the business is now turning over more than £10m, is already profitable and following private equity investment last year there is an ambitious plan to accelerate this going forward with the ultimate aim of achieving unicorn status. With a disruptive technology that is leading to exponential growth the business has won multiple awards under the leadership of a young entrepreneur. The founder has been complimented by the support of a highly experienced board and investor team, which consists of some of the sectors most prolific names. As well as providing strategic advice, the board and advisors have a strong track record when mentoring both entrepreneurs and future Finance Directors in PE/growth scenarios.
With no limits on the potential of this business there is a desire to scale and a need to establish a management team and finance function that can grow with the business and is fit for the future. Under the guidance of a part-time, experienced CFO, the Head of Finance will support the CEO’s decision making and strategy day to day, working strategically with senior stakeholders whilst also being across the detail, developing a strong understanding of the business. A key component of this role will be to provide commercial insight and establish robust processes and controls which will initially require a “hands on” approach prior to expanding the finance team, currently three FTE.
As well as establishing a finance function, the Head of Finance will also play a key role in M&A activity, working with the CFO and external advisers as the business pursues an aggressive shareholder strategy and growth plan which will lead to a series of finance-led events, particularly in the form a potential IPO in the near future.
With these factors in mind, the role will suit a high calibre, ambitious, adaptable and entrepreneurial accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) who is on an upwards trajectory in their career and is seeking an opportunity to be part of a notable business success story, providing a clear route to a first Finance Director role under the mentorship of experienced executives. It is essential that the successful candidate is looking to drive value creation in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment.
Remuneration will be competitive, but the real opportunity will be provided through potential equity/share options at the ground floor of an exponential growth story.
