Commercial Finance Manager

Axon Moore are working closely with one of Yorkshire’s greatest success stories in helping them hire a Commercial Finance Manager.

Card Factory plc is the UK’s number one retailer of greeting cards and accessories, selling a third of all cards in the UK. The company began in 1997 with one store; its disruptive business model has fueled organic growth to over 1,000 stores in every corner of the UK and Republic of Ireland. It has an outstanding growth story, consistently opening net 50 new stores every year in recent years – with more opening all the time.

Card Factory’s focus is on the value and mid-market segments of the UK’s large greeting cards market. Its vertically integrated model with in-house design team, printing facility and central warehousing provides the basis for its competitive advantage of adding value to customers in both price and quality. Card Factory plc enjoys impressive brand equity with shoppers, and is a FTSE 250 business.

The business is well placed to take advantage of new opportunities in the market and is looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join them on the next phase of the journey. The role reports directly to the Commercial Finance Director. In this highly commercial and forward-looking role, you will be the finance business partner to the Property Director. You will be responsible for producing increasingly effective, insightful and relevant MI and recommendations on new store acquisition and monitoring to be shared with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver performance measures and analysis to support and challenge the business
• Provide detailed and proactive business performance analysis
• Produce forecasts of value drivers
• Offer decision support and influence strategy
• Advise on store-level profitability and investment appraisal

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong commercial background. You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment whilst being able to think strategically and drive change where appropriate to improve efficiency.
