Thursday saw our second annual Axon Moore Cheshire Charity Golf Day, which was a fantastic chance to network and catch up on the course. Hosted by our Managing Director, Mark Turley, the golf tournament took place at his home course, Davenport Golf Club in Poynton.
A field of 22 golfers competed in an 18 hole Better Ball Stableford competition and there were some fantastic shots spotted from the clubhouse.
The weather held for the first couple of hours but once the showers came conditions got a bit trickier. Nevertheless, all the golfers participating had a great time at what is a beautiful course in the Cheshire countryside.
The day was all about supporting one of our charity partners, Street Soccer Academy, who were with us throughout the day, both in the clubhouse and on the course. During the day’s welcome session, Andrew Thorpe explained how Street Soccer Academy work to connect with communities to empower and inspire vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people to turn their lives around for the better. They are a worthy charity and one we are proud to support.
The Results:
There were some generous prizes available but the dynamic duo of Insider’s Adrian Simcox and On The Beach’s Dave Simcock combined for a massive 47 team points to win the double’s competition by a single point. The runners-up were Axon Moore’s very own Mark Turley and James Hymers of Raymond James who were another superb pair, scoring an impressive 46 points. Lee Wallace of Sourced won the Longest Drive competition with a superb tee shot on the 6th hole and James Hymers was Nearest the Pin on the picturesque 14th hole in front of a watching group in the clubhouse.
A successful event:
All in all it was a superb charity golf day and was the perfect opportunity to catch-up with many friends of Axon Moore. Congratulations to the prize-winning golfers on their fantastic efforts.
