Accounts payable Clerk

A great opportunity for a proven Accounts Payable Clerk to join a highly respected and rapidly growing business based in Macclesfield.

Purpose of the role:

Reporting into the Financial Manager, the role holder will primarily be responsible for processing invoices and maintaining purchase ledger records, ensuring all invoices are recorded accurately and payments to suppliers are made.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process supplier invoices in a timely manner
• Ensure invoices are being processed from the accounts payable mailbox
• Ensure invoices are coded correctly
• Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations and ensure any issues are resolved
• Review weekly age creditors listing
• Ensure any payment on accounts are investigated and invoices are allocated correctly
• Ensure adherence to month end deadlines
• Create and verify new supplier accounts on the system
• Act as first point of contact for supplier queries
• Prepare the weekly payment run and ensure payments are made to agreed supplier payment terms
• Ensuring credit cards are reconciled monthly, obtaining any missed invoices
• Perform daily bank reconciliations including but not limited to petty cash management and reconciliation to sage/cashbook and safe
• Assist with the implementation of any process improvements

Key Skills & Experience:

• Experienced working in a busy Accounts Payable department
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, excellent organisation skills and is tenacious by nature
• Confident individual with a good work ethic
• Proficient user of Microsoft Word / Excel / Outlook
• The ability to analyse and solve problems
• Able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
• Process driven, ability to challenge existing processes and implement improvements
