Job description

Axon Moore are working with a large, PE backed business operating across the UK to appoint an AAT level Assistant Accountant. The business is comprised of 3 business entities within the group and due to growth, are looking to expand the team. This is fast paced company with great growth prospects; they are highly acquisitional and expect the growth to continue.

The role looks after the end-to-end Purchase Ledger for 1 business entity and the banking and cash elements for all 3 entities and will assist the Finance Manager with the month-end process. We are looking for someone ambitious and wanting to learn and progress. There is scope to get involved with more, such as owning the balance sheet recs and also scope for progression in terms of job title. Excel skills covering vlookups and pivot tables are essential for this role.

Salary and benefits:

Salary - £25,000 - £30,000, 25 days holiday plus banks, pension, free parking on-site, hybrid working once settled in the role – 2 days from home.

Responsibilities include:
  • End to end ownership of Purchase Ledger for one of 3 entities. This includes receiving and processing invoices, allocating, supplier statement reconciliation, sending remittances and making supplier payments
  • Updating daily cash books and sending weekly cash reports for all 3 entities
  • Paying weekly/monthly subcontractors for 2 entities.
  • Raising credit notes for the CIS withheld.
  • Weekly expenses for 3 entities – small number of employees who are eligible to use expenses
  • Bank reconciliations for the 3 entities – carried out daily, in the morning and kept on top of
  • Processing daily POs for the 3 entities
  • Month end support with posting of prepayments. Accruals, fixed asset depreciation
  • Reconciling revenue in sage to operational KPI reports.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks and holiday cover as required, with scope to gain more exposure  
Experience & Skill Requirements:
  • Part or Fully Qualified AAT and with ambitions to study CIMA/ACCA
  • Good knowledge of excel (vlookups, pivot tables etc)
  • Preferable to have experience of using Sage 200
  • Experience covering multiple entities is beneficial
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate accuracy and pay attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills – approachable and down to earth with good communication skills
