Job description

Outstanding Axon Moore exclusive opportunity to join a highly regarded Property business as an Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper, based in the Chester area.  

Appointed on a permanent basis, you will be reporting to their Senior Finance Manager and your role will cover the following:
  • Assisting and supporting the Treasury function in administration, reporting and liquidity management.
  • Financial reporting.
Key responsibilities

Treasury
  • Arrange payments and transactions. Liaising with key banking contacts
  • Preparation of monthly Treasury report
  • Preparation of monthly deposit movements within specified capacity limits
  • Responsibility for all record keeping – both paper and virtual
  • First point of contact for queries from the business, finance team or external counter parts
  • Responsible for ensuring the online Treasury system reflects up to date information
  • Input of bank transfers onto electronic banking system
  • Assist with opening new bank accounts including obtaining compliance documentation as required
  • Maintain templates for control sheets, bank transfers and other key documents
  • Documentation, constant review, and improvement of all processes
  • Liaison with Group Treasury team
Reporting
  • Preparation and posting of monthly cashbooks
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual audited accounts and supporting working papers
  • Assisting with the preparation of consolidated quarterly management accounts and budgets
  • Preparation of monthly cash flows and to assist the finance manager in making decisions on future cash flow requirements
  • Preparation of specified sections of consolidated management accounts and budget reporting pack
  • Responsible for regular general ledger maintenance
  • Assisting with implementing changes to; accounts, management accounts and budget working papers
  • Preparation of quarterly and budget valuations for internal investments
  • Raising payment requests and ensuring all payments made on time
General

-   Provide assistance to colleagues in the finance team as required. Tasks may include reconciliations, preparing journals, and liaising with external third parties. Provide a helpful, friendly and efficient service.
-   Address problems and issues as they occur; escalating to line manager if and when necessary
-   Continuously develop and improve yourself and the way you work
-   Cover for MasterCard queries
-   Undertake ad-hoc projects and assignments as required

Essential skills and attributes:

Qualifications

- Good academic qualifications (A-levels and A* - C in English and Mathematics at GCSE)
- AAT qualification preferred but not essential

Experience

- Preference is to have worked in a finance/treasury environment or role

Skills

- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Confident using excel and large quantities of data
- Strong numeracy
- Attention to detail and dedication to providing quality, error free work
- A desire and ability to learn is essential
