Job description

Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a large market leading business with a long-standing history and pedigree in their expert field, who due to continued success require an enthusiastic and pro-active Cashier Supervisor to join their Finance Team. The company, based in Knutsford, Cheshire has a turnover in excess of £1 billion and trades from over 370 locations in the UK. 

Within this role, reporting to their Chief Cashier, you will have joint supervisory responsibility for supporting a team of ten finance administrators, within their Cashiers Department. You will assist the organisation in completing ledger related activities, mainly in managing payment runs of a purchase ledger containing over 8000 suppliers, managing multiple bank accounts, some of which are in foreign currencies and reconciling a bank ledger which encompasses some element of the sales ledger. You will be required to adopt and promote a hands-on focused approach while being able to effectively deal with escalated issues and help drive the team to succeed. 

Your duties will include:
  • processing bank transfers/cheque payments for one-off payments
  • general ledger journals
  • maintaining a dual currency cash book and undertaking the monthly revaluation calculation
  • monthly bank reconciliations
  • processing foreign supplier payments
  • resolving purchase ledger queries from suppliers and branch managers
  • operating a bespoke system
  • various system maintenance
  • deputise for Chief Cashier in their absence
To be considered for this excellent opportunity you will have the following:
  • have experience of supervising or managing others in a finance related role
  • have at least 2 years’ office experience, at least 1 year at supervisory level
  • have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • able to communicate effectively with different internal and external stakeholders
  • excellent team working skills including communication and prioritisation
  • able to work to tight deadline while paying attention to details
In return you will be offered a competitive salary of up to £32,000 DOE plus annual bonus, 25 days holiday (excluding bank holidays) and will benefit from free parking and free lunches, plus other benefits.
