Job description

Axon Moore are exclusively recruiting a Finance Director for a c.£20m t/o, rapidly growing, private equity backed business based in central Manchester. A market leader in its space, the company is renowned for the use of innovative, cutting edge technology and global leading IP. Their diverse global client base is highly impressive, with exceptional customer retention rates due to the quality of service and mission critical products.

This is a no1 Finance role, reporting directly to the CEO with a clear progression pathway to CFO.

Revenue and EBITDA has doubled year on year and their expansion shows no sign of slowing. The company’s ambition is to accelerate its impressive growth trajectory, expand into new markets and product application and build its presence in core geographies. To do so, the organisation is now seeking to appoint a technically excellent, hands-on Finance Director. This person will be responsible for ensuring best practice and maximum efficiency of the financial operations of the business, creating a clear vision for the finance function and leading, developing and growing the team.

We are looking for a high potential candidate, a future CFO who is seeking an opportunity where they can prove themselves in their ‘breakthrough Finance Director’ role, growing and developing their career alongside the business.

The initial focus of the role will be hands-on and detail-orientated, ensuring accurate financial and KPI reporting, maintaining controls and ensuring compliance as well as overseeing budgeting and forecasting, ensuring that the right infrastructure for further explosive growth is in place from a finance perspective. With time, there will be more of an emphasis on driving EBITDA, decision making and cash generation. There will be ever increasing exposure to shaping the strategic direction of the business using financial objectives, enabling organic and inorganic growth, financing, capital market and longer-term strategies such as leading the future private equity exit.

We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) who is a self-starter with a can-do attitude, a passion for adding value and ‘going the extra mile’ as part of the senior leadership team, challenging where necessary, and working to drive forward ongoing improvement across the organisation.  This individual must possess strong leadership skills and be capable of building relationships both internally and with external stakeholders. You must be commercially astute, with the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels. A background in manufacturing, engineering or another industrial related sector would be beneficial but is not essential, as would experience of stock control, stock management and exposure to an international customer base.

This is an excellent opportunity for a developing or first-time Finance Director to join an incredibly high potential, entrepreneurial business and operate within a PE backed environment.  The growth of the business, clear progression pathway to CFO and long term equity potential make this a truly compelling opportunity.
