Finance Director Opportunity | Yorkshire (+ hybrid) | c £six figures + bonus + bens | Investment firm/Family office

Axon Moore are currently working with a private equity investment business in Yorkshire who seek to appoint a finance director. Founded by a HNWI, the business operation consists of a significant portfolio of private businesses with further investments already in the pipeline.

As part of this position, the Finance Director will also assume responsibility for family office including residential property developments and other hight net worth assets run as commercial operations.

The Finance Director will partner with the Managing Director to fully manage the non-investment assets while assisting with reporting requirements for business investments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Development and leadership of the small finance function; enhancing  and maintaining financial accounting systems, processes and controls
  • Budgeting and regular cash flow forecasting for all Family (non-portfolio) entities, managing liquidity in line with agreed treasury strategy
  • Set up and management of multiple bank accounts
  • Review and develop all month end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet recs and cost allocations
  • Production of month end reporting pack for all Family entities
  • Establish efficient reporting of portfolio results (vs budgets) for monthly team meetings, integrating this model of portfolio performance into period valuations
  • Production of end of year statutory accounts
  • Ensure company secretarial compliance
Tax:
  • Oversight of preparation of tax computations for various Family entites
  • Preparation of personal tax returns
Legal / Commercial:
  • Critique and negotiation of contracts / commercial arrangements (non-portfolio)
  • Management of property assets
 
This role would suit an individual who adopts a hands-on approach managing, monitoring and reporting on a breadth of assets. This individual will be astute in providing the suitable financial infrastructure and capable of developing high quality MI with insight and recommendations. Ideally the Finance Director will have previous experience of negotiating contracts and / or managing multiple projects.

Qualifications & experience:
  • University degree and relevant professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Most probably a “Big Four” trained accountant
  • Proficient understanding of tax principles and developing effective tax planning/ mitigation strategies
  • Experience in a client-facing role working within a Private Equity investment environment or fund management
  • Experience in a HHWI family office is desirable but not essential
  • Strong grasp of strategy and evidence of making a significant contribution to the development of the business beyond the finance function
  • Outstanding commercial skills and the ability to work as a business partner to the Managing Partner
  • Experience of working in a lean and fast paced environment
