Job description

Axon Moore are delighted to be working exclusively with a high-growth, International, PE-backed Tech business based in Cheshire (one day a week based in the office, client will also consider part-time/ 4 days a week). Reporting to the FD, this Finance Manager role is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Qualified accountant seeking a varied role where you can learn and develop from a calibre FD/mentor.

The business has grown with trading operations and entities in the UK, USA and Europe. This newly created role is solely responsible for accounting regulations, GAAP, compliance, governance, direct and Indirect taxation. The role will also assist in defining and implementing: Transfer Pricing, Treasury and internal audit requests.

You will report into the FD but work closely with Finance, the CFO and Group FD as required. Your role will cover the following;

Financial Compliance
  • Set up, own and update a timetable of compliance obligations ensuring deadlines are met (e.g., account filings, audit, direct & indirect tax submissions including R&D claims and payroll filings)
  • Ensure the right professional advisors are in place to manage and optimise Group taxation and transfer pricing- Liaising with external group tax advisors and providing the information they require
  • Maintaining group intercompany reconciliations
  • Overseeing the progress of the audit process, from planning through to signing of the Financial Statements
  • Ensure the right foreign entity reporting is set up and the right professional advisors are on-board.
  • Responsible for liaising with advisors seeking any necessary advice for compliance of overseas entities
  • Balance sheet reviews and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Look into Treasury requirements, hedging, and forex requirements.
  • Manage and own the Group R&D claims
Financial Reporting
  • Own reporting of non-trading entities.
  • Manage Group Intercompany balances and reconciliations. Prepare and post monthly consolidation adjustments and match intercompany transactions
  • Manage Group Goodwill, Impairments, Intangibles and brand asset reporting.
  • Prepare UK statutory accounts (and own process for foreign entities).
  • Produce monthly P&L and balance sheet with commentary and analysis
  • Forex – ensure correct retranslation of foreign subsidiaries from functional currency into presentational currency
  • Writing technical papers to support accounting judgements (e.g., going concern & impairment reviews)
  • System improvements and project work.
  • Staff capitalisation GAAP compliance and ensuring the right reporting, systems and controls in place.
  • Management reporting to include financial reporting and internal stakeholder management.
  • Oversight of management accounts with minimal posting responsibilities
To be considered, you should have the following skills and experience;
  • Qualified accountant with relevant PQE.
  • Excellent accounting knowledge of UK & IFRS GAAP
  • Excellent knowledge of controls best practice and audit standard
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Build and manage positive internal and external relationships
  • Audit & tax experience
