Financial Controller l South Manchester l FMCG l £65,000 - £70,000 + car allowance + bonus

Job Overview:

Axon Moore are delighted to be partnering with a FMCG business based in South Manchester. The role will report directly to the Finance Director, and will work with a senior team in both company strategy and operations, ensuring that sensible commercial and operational decisions are taken. Providing strong financial control and management over the business’ risk exposure through the delivery of high quality management processes.

Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 + car allowance + bonus

Location: South Manchester

Main Duties:

  • Lead the Finance team: Conduct regular meetings and performance reviews for direct reports; Ensure objectives are set and distributed throughout the team; Oversee the development of direct reports through annual development plans that are reviewed regularly.
  • Offer a visible presence to the Finance team by delivering regular communications and correspondence.
  • Determining the full scale of financial risk, informing the Board of Directors, and developing the necessary solutions to reduce said risk.
  • To guarantee that the company has proper financial processes and devise internal controls in order to ensure the compliance of financial and operational processes with the variety of stakeholder requirements.
  • Lead financial-planning processes (such as budgeting and forecasting), and to analyse the performance of the manufacturing sites in line with the business plan, in order to recommend improvements across revenue, costs and margins. Have a proactive influence upon the commercial decision making within the business to ensure that profit margins and service levels are maximised.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial data for both external and internal reporting requirements, while always looking to develop the Finance function (team, tools, systems, processes and procedures).
  • Deliver monthly re-forecasting against P&L and cash flow, advising the Board of Directors of any significant changes to the plan.
  • Establish strong controls. Manage cash and cash availability. Ensure the working capital of the business is appropriately and tightly controlled.
  • Deliver significant improvements in relation to the interpretation of financial performance.
  • Manage and coordinate all statutory requirements.
  • Lead and direct the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Environmental, Health and Safety Management systems, security management all disaster and emergency management, business continuity and risk minimisation programmes to ensure a safe working environment.
  • All Directors, Managers and Supervisors of the company are required at all times to ensure that the standards, behaviours and activities of both themselves and their teams are always in compliance with the requirements of the business HACCP and Quality Management Systems, the requirements of the standards, policies and codes of practice of the customers and the requirements of the current versions of the adopted 3rd party standards, BRC Global Food Safety, International Food Standards and OHSAS 18001.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Manufacturing experience essential
  • Experience within a similar role
  • Exceptional Excel skills
  • Be a team player, with a clear drive to succeed.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • An ability to be flexible and to put their varied skills to any task.
