Financial Controller - nr. Goole

Axon Moore are supporting a growing and ambitious, privately-owned SME near Goole in the appointment of a Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller will support the Finance Director and the board with all aspects of running the accounting and finance function.

This appointment comes at a time when the Finance Director is becoming more focused on the operational and strategic direction of the business, and will therefore need the support of a high calibre Financial Controller to support in these areas, as well as oversee the finance team.

Key responsibilities of the Financial Controller role will include:

• Leading a finance function of 3 staff members and playing a wider leadership role in the business
• Preparation of monthly management accounts, Year End accounts and Audit
• Maintaining and improving financial controls and reporting
• Liaise and maintain relationships with professional advisors including auditors, solicitors, insurers and company banking and finance providers
• Liaise with other departments within the company, challenging managers where required
• Cashflow forecasting
• Managing stock levels and WIP
• VAT and other statutory returns
• Assist the FD with annual and ad-hoc budgeting and reporting as required
• Ad-hoc projects including the development of the costing system and stock ordering processes

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following skills and experience:

• Qualified Accountant, ideally with experience in a similar role at a privately owned / owner managed SME
• Be motivated to support the wider business with growth initiatives
• A willingness to be ‘hands-on’ and detail focused when required, with the leadership skills to be strategic and forward looking
