Job description

Axon Moore are partnering with a well-known, fast paced business in Middleton, who are looking to appoint a Graduate Finance Assistant to train and support the Financial Reporting Manager. There is lots of scope for career progression to Management Accountant with study support and training provided, so it’s vitally important you are driven to learn and ambitious.

This role would suit a recent graduate looking for their first step into finance. You will be assisting with the preparation of management accounts focusing on balance sheet reconciliations and ownership of the fixed asset register. The role will be fast paced and varied with opportunities to cover all aspects of finance as you progress with your CIMA qualification.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary up to £22k per annum, full CIMA study support with pay progression, up to 10% bonus, pension, 33 days holiday including bank holidays (flexible banks), free parking, hybrid working, flexibility on hours, relaxed office environment with dress down dress code.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Month end balance sheet reconciliations pack preparation, including variance investigation and analysis. Ensuring reconciling items are resolved within an appropriate time frame through collaboration with other finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Manage the company’s fixed asset register, processing deprecation, reconciliations and monthly fixed asset note preparations.
  • Assist with various month end procedures and reconciliations, adhering to strict deadlines
  • Assist with weekly reporting to strict deadlines.
  • Process monthly expenses for the business, liaising directly with employees with any queries.
  • Provide cover for bank transactions and sales ledger as well as support within wider finance team
  • Processing the company credit card transactions and managing the process.
  • Assisting the management accountant with day-to-day tasks
  • Managing the business deposits
  • Working with the property team to manage electricity and gas suppliers
  • Assist with ad hoc year end work including audit queries
  • Significant ad-hoc work as assigned
Experience and skills:
  • 2.1 or above at degree level with strong A-Levels and GCSEs
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and achieve tight deadlines working in a high pressure environment
  • Excellent IT literacy, ideally with strong excel skills
  • Able to use own initiate and drive continuous improvements
  • Able to communicate with finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible within the role
  • Manage high volumes of transactions
