Group Financial Controller | £80,000 - £90,000 | Preston (Close link to M6) | Rapidly Growing Private Equity Backed Services Business | No.2 to a PE specialist CFO with progression to Group FD
Axon Moore is pleased to be partnering with a new private equity backed client as they look to appoint a new Group Financial Controller in Preston. They’re a rapidly expanding business that is acquiring a number of businesses at the moment across the UK. Highly profitable and with a market disrupting business model, this business requires an ambitious candidate with the vision to help lead them towards an exit within a few years.
Short term progression:
The CFO is a private equity specialist and they are looking for a right hand person that can go on the journey with them as they build the business and prepare it for sale in a couple of years. The CFO wants to appoint a strong leader who can autonomously build and a run a large finance team whilst having a commercial impact across the business. In return, the CFO wishes to mentor the individual to succeed themselves post-deal and will give them the exposure and mentoring needed to build out their CV to establish themselves as a PE FD.

Profile:
Our client wishes to hire someone who:
- Is audit trained (ideally Big 4 ACA but can be flexible)
- Has substantial industry experience, ideally a first time FD from an owner managed SME, or Group financial Controller from another PE backed business or large corporate
- Can autonomously to build and run a finance team implementing the appropriate technical requirements
- Can work commercially across the business to drive improvement and value in line with investor expectations
- Has the ability to problem solve and learn on the job (there’s a substantial list of projects)
- Can step up to deputise on behalf of the CFO as they look to pass work down and step away
