This is a fantastic opportunity for a Group Financial Controller to join an extremely successful and profitable family owned SME based in North Yorkshire.

The business has been running for just over 15 years, and the group has expanded and grown significantly within this time, and as a result, they Board are now looking to hire a Group Financial Controller to head up the small group finance function in a number 1 role.

The role will report to and work closely with the MD overseeing the day to day running of the function and multiple entities within the business. The role will play a crucial part in helping influence key business and strategic decision making, driving the business forward and forging and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

***The role would be ideally suited to someone fully qualified with 4-6 years post qualified experience working within senior commercially focused finance roles, ideally within a group finance function***

The offices are based just outside of Harrogate, so are easily accessible from Harrogate, York and Leeds.

Reporting to the MD the key duties will include:
  • Development and leadership of the small finance function
  • Improving and maintaining financial accounting systems, processes and controls
  • Budgeting and forecasting for multiple entities within the group
  • Production of month end reporting pack with commentary
  • Review and develop all month end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet recs and cost allocations
  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts and returns
  • Cashflow forecasting for multiple entities
  • Liaison with bank to support treasury allocations 
  • Setup and management of multiple bank accounts
  • Support in the management of Group’s portfolio reporting including valuations
  • VAT returns
  • Oversight of preparation of tax computations

The successful candidate will:
  • Be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a minimum of 5 years PQE - Essential
  • Have previous experience working within a group accounting function - Highly desirable
  • Have a good knowledge of both Excel and SAGE - Essential
  • Have excellent business partnering and non finance stakeholder management skills - Essential
  • Have the ability to work autonomously within a varied and hands on senior finance role - Essential
