Job description

Interim Finance Director role with a successful ecommerce / retailer based in Manchester.

They are looking a Finance Director to join the team to support the Managing Director, in this position, you will be driving the financial success of the company. Managing a growing team, you will have a significant impact on the way the company is led, taking responsibility for Finance and being a strategic leader within the organisation to ensure we satisfy the incredible global demand for the products.

Duties:
  • Establishing targets and developing budgets across all departments.
  • Delivering technical financial projects liaising closely with the Directors.
  • Work with the Managing Director and SLT on setting the near, medium, and long-term strategic vision of the business and setting short-, medium- and long-term goals for scalable growth alongside our executive team to increase revenues and profits.
  • Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
  • Ensuring appropriate finance / debt facilities are in place to enable the business to scale.
  • Working with the Director of Product to oversee seasonal buying and reporting on gross margin and stock levels.
  • Working closely with the Director of Operations to review shipping strategies and costs.
  • Working with the MD on initiatives and providing commercial insight to driving growth.
  • Manage all aspects of corporate governance & compliance including business /employers' insurance, GDPR, and regular / ad hoc legislative requirements.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the finance team to be a best-in-class commercial finance function.
  • Manage relationships and performance of external finance service providers.
  • Supervise all audit and internal control processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance.
  • Recognise patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
  • Maintain relationships with insurance providers, ensuring the business is fully covered according to the details of the contract.
  • Leading all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, reporting against forecasts, and responding proactively.
  • Ensuring compliance with, and accurate reporting of taxes including PAYE / NIC, VAT, Corporation Tax, Global Sales Taxes, Customs & Duties
  • Ensure all tools / tech are compliant to relevant laws / regulations.
  • Support a BI rollout to enable real-time data driven decision making.
  • Support the development and building of new tech / data stacks.
Person Specification:
  • An experienced finance leader who has scaled a business previously with global growth.
  • Proven success in people leadership.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Must have experience in a direct-to-consumer business.
  • Knowledge of the Shopify ecommerce platform.
  • Experience managing stock planning in a high-growth business.
  • Previous experience managing a team and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Experienced in fundraising activities and knowledge of debt markets and products.
