Internal Controls and Risk Manager l Central Manchester | ACA Qualified | E-Commerce High Growth

Job Overview:

Axon Moore are currently working alongside a Private Equity backed, high growth e-commerce firm who are continuing to record excellent performance post covid with exciting plans ahead for further growth. This newly created role will report directly to the Head of Finance, a ACA Qualified Accountant with excellent pedigree in e-commerce.

The role is ideally suited for individuals with a strong background in audit and risk, having previously trained in practice. There is a strong emphasis growth as the business continues it excellent growth trajectory, therefore a strong controls background, with an ability to minimise risk during a period of growth is essential. 

Salary: £60,000-£80,000
Location: Central Manchester

Main Duties:
  • Work alongside the finance team and Head of Financial Reporting with responsibility for planning, reviewing, and documenting all internal controls and processes to mitigate any material risks, and implement better controls and practices.
  • Implementation of an Internal Controls framework following best practices.
  • Ensure key internal controls are defined, implemented, documented, assessed and monitored.
  • Review and document all key processes and assess all controls within the Finance function including for the procure to pay and order to cash processes highlighting any risk and control weaknesses.
  • Create and manage a controls matrix and control weakness register with RAG status on issues with corresponding remedies for all material risks.
  • Work with other relevant stakeholders to assess operational risks and controls.
  • Assess controls and process maturity against industry benchmarks.
  • Periodic internal audit style testing of controls.
  • Continually assess ongoing Internal controls requirements for the growing business, in the market and the need for an independent internal audit function.
  • Manage and support process changes with the team.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Periodically test key controls to ensure processes are followed.
Person Specification:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Excellent background in risk management and controls.
  • Advanced Excel skill set.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
