Axon Moore have partnered with a high-growth, acquisitive business, based in Blackpool, as they search for an experienced Payroll Clerk to play the leading role in coordinating the payroll function of the business through a period of sustained growth.
Reporting to a supportive Head of Finance, this role is well suited to experienced and charismatic Payrollers who are incredibly organised and boast a fun, outgoing personality with a ‘can do’ approach to work. For this role, it is essential that candidates are process driven, possess exceptional knowledge of UK payroll protocol, able to effectively input ideas for improvement and boast proven experience within payroll.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Running weekly Payroll on Sage
- Running weekly reports
- Processing absences
- Processing deductions/attachments
- Assessing, updating and submitting weekly pension data
- To be able to process and have knowledge of FPS’s, RTI’s, SSP, SPP, SMP
- Liaising with multiple departments to ensure the smooth process of the weekly payroll run
- Producing a weekly BACS file for the finance team
- Weekly processing and gaining approval of a high volume of timesheets
- Tracking fines, deductions and attachment of earnings
- Updating attachment data through local district portals
- Checking/confirming accrued holidays
- Processing weekly payroll recharges and project costings
- Liaising with various staff and dealing with any queries
- Managing the Pension scheme, enrolling, opting out and making weekly payments
- Leading on payroll related projects
- Processing new starters and leavers
- Issuing P45’s and other tax forms
- HR admin support – i.e. updating personal information, tracking holidays, sickness, maternity/paternity leave, etc.
- At least 2 years’ end-to-end payroll experience
- Able to efficiently manage and organise their workload
- Microsoft Excel proficient
- A good understanding of PAYE, NI, RTI, SMP, SSP and other HMRC statutory regulations
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proactive and self-motivated in nature
- Able to work efficiently towards deadlines
