Job description

Axon Moore are looking for an ambitious payroll manager for a high growth business who are growing both organically and through acquisition.

As payroll manager, you will join the finance team and report to the group financial controller. You will line manage one Payroll clerk, plus be heavily involved in shaping the future of the payroll department and dealing with system improvements and shaping the payroll team. Looking after all the company payrolls and managing all associated reporting and statutory payments


• Ensure payroll data is accurately maintained inline with HMRC and audit compliance
• Liaise with HR team to obtain documentation for starters, leavers and change of employee details promptly obtaining authorisation when applicable
• Collate and review all manual timesheet and pay information from branches
• Process and calculate as relevant accurate wages and salaries, including bonuses, salary increases, overtime, or other pay components and deductions, ensuring strict deadlines are met
• Calculate and process statutory payments such as maternity, paternity and sick leave
• Process all payrolls through to payment and RTI reporting in line with relevant deadlines
• Ensure all payrolls and payments are appropriately approved in line with group policies and procedures
• Submit pension information to the pension provider and ensure payments are made within statutory deadlines
• Completion of tax year end processes, issuing of P60s and P11Ds in conjunction with the finance team
• Handle and respond to discrepancies and queries relating to payroll
• Provide payroll reports requested by the accounts team
• Provide assistance to HR team if required
• Develop and maintain payroll SOPs
• Provide audit support

Person Specification:

• Ideally CIPP qualified, or have a relevant payroll qualification
• Experienced Payroll Manager
• Previous experience of running multiple payrolls to different payment schedules
• Experience with ERP Systems
• Intermediate Excel

£40,000 to £45,000 per annum
23 days holiday plus bank holidays + benefits, plus up to 2 days working from home.
