Job description

Axon Moore are partnering with a well-established business in Heywood, who are looking to appoint a Senior Accounts Payable Lead into their growing accounts team.

The Senior AP Lead is responsible for accurate processing of payments and query management for the group; requiring excellent organisational and communication skills together with strong attention to detail. The main focus will be the payments aspect, with the day to day of invoice processing being looked after. This role also has scope for progression in the short to medium term.

Salary - £28-30k per annum, 23 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 25 after 5 years), pension, parking, 37.5 hours per week (9-5 with 30m lunch), on-site gym. Some hybrid working available once proficient and embedded into the role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of supplier payment proposals, including supplier management, obtaining relevant approvals, accurate processing in the ERP system and generating on the banking platform.
  • Weekly payment of subcontractors, collating branch information, obtaining approvals and processing for payment.
  • Issuing supplier remits.
  • Supplier statement reconciliations (group wide accounts).
  • Respond to and resolve supplier queries, liaising with Procurement, branches, subcontractors or suppliers as necessary, including management of the payment inbox.
  • Process supplier rebate credit notes.
  • Proactively initiate and contribute to process improvements, including input into system requirements or developments within the new ERP.
  • Assist the wider finance team as necessary.
  • Abide by the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies, procedures and statutory requirements; and undertake such health and safety training as may be required.
  • Participate in any mandatory/required training activities as relevant.
Experience and skills:
  • 3 years ‘experience in an end-to-end Accounts Payable role
  • An AAT or Bookkeeping qualification would be an advantage but not essential
  • Experience in the Construction industry would be beneficial
  • Experience using ERP systems. Use of NetSuite would be beneficial
  • Strong Excel skills
  • A strong work ethic - proactive in your work, showing initiative
  • Team player, happy to help the wider team where needed
  • Good attention to detail and able to work to a fast pace where necessary
