Axon Moore are working with a high growth PE backed SME retail organisation in Cheshire / South Manchester. Founded in 2010 and today via its three principal brands, they are the largest retailer of their kind in Europe and no1 in their field.
Sales turnover has grown rapidly to over £34m in 2020, employing over 100 people. The business is now embarking on the next rapid phase of growth with an additional two sites opening in the coming year and an anticipated doubling of the size of the business.
Reporting into the CFO the opportunity has arisen for an HR and L&D manager. This is a key appointment for the business and for the right individual an exciting opportunity to help shape the culture and people strategy of an ambitious and rapidly growing organisation.
Your primary responsibility is the development, prioritisation and roll out of a people strategy project. The plan is to be developed with the senior team in the business with external support where required; covering all areas of people strategy and is recognised as a priority to support the future growth of the business.
• Working with the senior team to develop an L&D program to support the busines initially focused upon the operational areas.
• Introduction of a performance management framework within the business.
• Review of remuneration and benefits packages by role and grade to ensure that we are competitive as a business to attract the best talent.
• Responsible for recruitment and the induction process
• With the CEO and senior team responsible for supporting the development of the culture of the business and working environment.
• Working with the SMT to develop a communication strategy for the business.
• Develop and roll out a performance management framework
• Responsibility for day to day HR administration, people management and aspects of payroll.
• Management of one direct report.
Person Specification:
• Excellent communication skills, able to converse at all levels throughout the business
• Being a self-starter and possessing a natural enthusiasm and energy for the development of the people function.
• Demonstrable experience of seeing projects through to the end, including realisation of benefits. The ability to execute projects.
• In a fast moving environment, the ability to prioritise and manage work load.
• Good academic record including professional HR qualifications.
