Job description

Axon Moore are working with a business operating across the UK to appoint an AAT level Accounts Assistant. The business operates multiple sites within the hospitality sector and due to growth of the portfolio, are looking to expand the team. This is  vibrant company with great growth prospects, since they started over 10 years ago.

The role looks after the transactional processes; the sales and purchase ledger, daily banking and will assist the Management Accountant with the month-end process.

Salary and benefits:


Salary - £25,000 - £30,000 DOE plus study support, 25 days holiday plus banks, pension, hybrid working, 9-5 core hours with flexibility, 50% discount and expense cards.

Responsibilities include:
  • Owning the Purchase Ledger; Sending invoices to Paperless for authorisation, posting supplier invoices to Sage, maintaining a clean purchase ledger with no debit balances
  • Respond to emails in the accounts inbox and keep the inbox tidy
  • Weekly reconciliation of site cash ups (till reports to bank)
  • Bank reconciliations in Sage 
  • Post petty cash and expenses to Sage
  • Responding to any stripe disputes/chargebacks
  • Maintaining a prepayments schedule
  • Supplier statement reconciliations with Top 20 suppliers monthly, full ledger each quarter
  • Prepare end of month payment run for authorisation and prepare weekly/ad-hoc payments for authorisation
  • Post payments into Sage and send remittances to suppliers
  • Raising retro/rebate & listing fee invoices
  • Raise sales ledger invoices and maintain a customer ledger off Sage
  • Issue weekly finance reports to the wider business
  • Assisting the Management Accountant with the month end process
  • Monthly reconciliation of necessary balance sheet accounts
  • Assisting with the annual audit
Experience & Skill Requirements:
  • Part or Fully Qualified AAT and membership with ambitions to study CIMA/ACCA
  • Good knowledge of excel (vlookups, pivot tables etc)
  • Preferable to have experience of using Sage 200
  • Financial experience in a commercial organisation desirable
  • Multi-site experience beneficial
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate accuracy and pay attention to detail
  • Work in a mature, courteous and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills – approachable and down to earth with good communication skills
