Job description

Axon Moore are working with a large business operating within the property industry across the UK to appoint an AAT qualified/early stage CIMA/ACCA Assistant Accountant. The business is comprised of 3 business divisions within the group and due to growth, are looking to expand the team. This is fast paced company with great growth prospects; they are highly entrepreneurial and expect the growth to continue.

The role will oversee the transactional elements of finance as well as assisting the Management Accountant and the senior finance team on day-to-day transactional matters, to control all payments made by the Group, ensuring correct allocation. This role will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions are fully approved and assigned to the correct entity and project. This role will be accountable for reconciling the inter-company positions across the main trading group.

Salary and benefits:

Salary - £28,000 - £35,000 DOE, Pension, 25 holiday days per year, Private health care (following a successful probation period), Team social events and trips, Wellness allowance, Monthly supper clubs, Healthy snacks in the office, On-site parking (in Manchester), Employee referral scheme. 37.5 hours per week with hybrid working (4 days in the office).

Responsibilities include:
  • Take responsibility for clearing the backlog of historical transactions to be recorded on Sage
  • Ensure that all transactions are recorded on Sage daily with weekly
  • Reconcile the purchase ledgers for the group
  • Produce a weekly bank report detailing movement and large transactions that reconciles between Sage/bank statements
  • Reconciled position reviewed by GFD
  • Reconcile the inter-company position across the group
  • Produce an options appraisal for authorisation workflow system to ensure all purchases and bank payments are authorised
  • Achieve 98% or above for legal compliance
  • Implement authorisation process
  • Shortlist potential systems with pros & cons reviewed by GFD, leading to the system being implemented and operational
  • Reconciled inter-company matrix signed off by GFD
Experience & Skill Requirements:
  • Part or Fully Qualified AAT or early stage CIMA/ACCA
  • Good knowledge of excel (vlookups, pivot tables would be beneficial)
  • Preferable to have experience of using Sage 200
  • Experience covering multiple entities is beneficial
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate accuracy and pay attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills – approachable and down to earth with good communication skills
