Job description

Axon Moore are exclusively recruiting on behalf of a growing, PE backed business based in Chadderton. The business is well established in the market and has a turnover of over £150m. They are creating a new role which with support the Group Management Accountant.

The role is responsible for the accounting and reporting finance activities of the Group’s head office companies and to support increased productivity levels in the wider Group Finance team.  The role will include all elements of the finance cycle in relation to head office activities including processing of transactions and journals in the general ledger, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, preparing meaningful financial analysis and assisting with cyclical budgeting and forecasting activities. The role will provide an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to develop their skillset and be exposed to a variety of tasks. Study support is included for CIMA/ACCA as they are looking for someone quite ambitious.

Salary and benefits:

Salary - £28-35k DOE plus study support, 25 days holiday, 5% matched pension, parking, medicas and flexibility and hybrid working (2-3 set days in the office). 

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist the Management Accountant with the preparation of month end financial results for head office entities
  • Prepare all month end journal entries and ensure accurate posting into Navision
  • Upload month end results to Vena consolidation software and ensure fully reconciled
  • Assist with the calculation of monthly management recharges and issue invoices to group subsidiaries accordingly
  • Ensure head office intercompany balances reconcile to other group subsidiary balances
  • Preparation of accurate month end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of Group rolling 3-month cash flow forecasts and updating of actuals
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly VAT returns and annual PSA submission
  • Preparing and reporting on variances for central costs to relevant stakeholders
  • Work with the Accounts Payable team to ensure the trade creditors ledger is kept up to date and that accurate and complete accruals are maintained
  • Assisting with preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budget for Group entities
  • Supporting the year end external audit process and providing information as required
  • Management of user related administrative tasks for HSBC
  • Ad-hoc tasks to support the Group finance function, as required
Experience & Skill Requirements:
  • Actively studying relevant accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and good general aptitude for accounting systems
  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferable with an appetite for further career development in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work on own initiative and manage own workload to strict deadlines
  • Strong communication and team working skills.
  • Driven individual with excellent attention to detail and strong organisation skills
