Job description

Axon Moore is recruiting a Finance Director for a c.£20m t/o, profitable, fast-growing, highly acquisitive logistics and distribution business, currently mid-way through an ambitious buy and build programme. The business offers a multitude of tailored supply chain solutions across the UK and internationally to customers in the e-commerce, FMCG and manufacturing spaces. The company plans to drive organic growth over the next few years and to continue on its acquisition trail with the ultimate goal of increasing EBITDA and working towards an exit, providing a wealth creation opportunity for all. To support the business on this journey, they are now seeking to bring in a strong financial number one to develop and drive the financial and commercial structure of the business.

With accounts currently being outsourced and each new acquisition bringing with it its own processes and standalone finance functions, the Finance Director will be responsible for centralising finance for the Group. They will have full ownership for providing suitable finance infrastructure and developing high quality, quickly available MI in order to allow for agile decision making and recommendations that will enable further expansion.

The FD will add significant strategic value, leading on any projects, including acquisitions and investment processes. Working alongside the founders and directors, this person will be heavily involved in decision making and driving the company forward. They must be able to add real value to the strategic direction and growth of the business whilst also adopting a hands-on approach with regard to the financial detail of the company and development of the finance function.

This role will suit an ambitious individual who is keen to progress and grow with the business. The management team is particularly supportive and will encourage and help this person to develop in their career journey.

The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute, technically strong, hands-on finance leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels. A background in logistics, distribution, warehousing, or e-commerce would be advantageous, as would experience of M&A and exposure to a private equity environment.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work closely with an outstanding senior leadership team at an early stage of the business journey, where you will be able to add real value to the business and have a tangible impact on the future growth and performance of the business.  An excellent package is available including equity, giving the successful candidate a highly achievable wealth creation opportunity.
