Axon Moore are pleased to be supporting the DMC Group with the appointment of a Finance Director for 4 of their UK brands – Wool & The Gang, Rowan, Tilsatec and Sirdar, which will be based at their Wakefield site.
With a heritage dating back to 1880, these iconic businesses are the gold standard and world leader for others to follow in multiple needlecraft and yarn products. The DMC Group who owns them is a Private Equity backed, international group of brands with a diverse and rich product offering.
The Finance Director is a broad, site based role which has far reaching responsibility and influence across multiple business entities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Collaborating with senior stakeholders and brand leaders as a strategic thought partner to determine realistic business strategies for each brand
Acting as Finance expert for the business, supporting due diligence/M&A, project work, commercial reviews, or any other ad-hoc work as required
Ownership and review of management accounts production, challenging the work of the team and getting under the skin of any business changes / movements
Managing banking relationships and ensuring relevant banking facilities are managed effectively
Controlling a tightly run finance function ensuring all internal reporting deadlines are met on a weekly, monthly or annual basis
Leading the finance function ensuring that team members are developed, well trained and motivated to deliver positive results
Managing other third party relationships with property landlords, insurers, HMRC etc.
Assuming the role of statutory director for a number of business entities

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following background:
Qualified Finance Leader (strong preference for an ACA Qualified candidate who has qualified within a mid to large tier accounting firm)
Proven track record of working through others and managing a finance environment
Experience of thriving in a fast paced environment
Specific Industry experience is less important for this role, however some experience managing transactions across a trading environment consisting of multiple currencies would be preferable
More important than all of the above is a finance leader who has the emotional intelligence and strength of character to live and breathe the values of the business and partner effectively with the wide variety of stakeholders who will interact with this person
