About the Company:

Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a well-established charity based on the edge of Manchester City Centre, to appoint a Finance Manager to oversee all finance matters within the organisation. The charity has grown significantly over the last few years and they are looking for someone passionate about the sector to join and add value where possible.

Reporting to the CEO, the role holder will primarily be responsible for handling the day to day financial transactions within the company, as well as the month end and management accounts pack. You will supervise and support a small team, ensuring their day-to-day responsibilities are completed. This is a hands on role where you will be a liaison between finance and internal stakeholders.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary is £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (DOE), depending on experience. 25 days holiday plus banks holidays and your birthday off. Well-being service including eye tests, flexibility on hours, free lunches on site, pension.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of timely management accounts for review by the CEO and SLT
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, working with budget holders
  • Present the annual budget to the SLT and CEO
  • Balance sheet recs, cash flow and income statements
  • Financial analysis, variance analysis and KPIs
  • Lead the external audit and liaise with the Charity Commission, insurance brokers, pension and payroll providers
  • HMRC to ensure all returns are completed on time
  • Attend and support the CEO with financial information in Trustee meetings.
  • Review and manage finance policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the annual audit and production of statutory accounts
  • Lead by example, honour the values and represent the charity as required
  • Ad-hoc work on request.
Professional qualification and competencies:
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Charity experience would be beneficial, though not essential
  • Partial or full finance qualification (AAT/ACCA/CIMA) or Qualified By Experience.
  • Good experience of using Sage or other accountancy packages, as well as Excel to intermediate level.
  • Experience of managing a team in a small finance department is desirable
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
  • Able to work manage workload, being organised and efficient
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, including a flexible approach to developing and delivering the job
