Financial Accountant - Remote Working - £50k

There will be a requirement to attend key meetings at the business' Leeds office so all applicants should be within a reasonable commute away.

As a Financial Accountant, you will deliver an outstanding (efficient and effective) financial reporting service to the whole of the business' group of companies. 

In addition, the successful applicant will:
  • Support delivery of the department purpose, principally by provision of financial information for management, statutory and regulatory accounting purposes
  • Be a key member of a team concerned with providing a high-quality accounting and reporting service
  • Ensure financial control is always maintained
  • Work closely with the external auditors throughout the year to deliver timely, high quality external reporting meeting all required regulatory and legal standards
  • Be a subject matter expert on IFRS, FRS, Companies Act and all other relevant disclosure requirements, with the ability to draft high quality management papers on key areas of judgement and uncertainty
  • Act as a key contact for Company Secretarial and Legal departments in relation to financial reporting issues
  • Able to deputise for Senior Technical Accountant when required
  • Support the Financial Reporting team in creating, managing and deploying agile (flexible) resources where and when they are required to deliver team purpose, including cross training on other team roles and support in busy periods
  • Work closely with the wider Finance team, supporting their understanding where management accounting entries are reflected in statutory financial statements and regulatory reporting to aid accurate data at source and minimise year end issues and adjustments
  • Provide additional quality control over external financial reporting
  • Provide technical finance input to ad hoc projects and enquiries

Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent), with experience of applying accounting standards in practice
  • Experience of statutory reporting
  • Experience of both IFRS and UK GAAP reporting including knowledge of recent changes and proposed/new changes
  • Broad business knowledge
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral & written
