Axon Moore are working with a fast-paced PE backed Retail/FMCG business in the South Manchester area as they look to hire an ambitious Financial Controller to work directly with the Finance Director, to manage the Finance function and support future growth including M&A and future exit.
About the role
The successful candidate will have a track record of collaborating business partnering with the wider business, searching for continuous improvement, and will have the presence and gravitas to be able to communicate with senior management and external stakeholders as well as demonstrating understanding of POP, SOP, and stock systems and how they integrate with accounting systems.
Salary - £65k - £75k + bonus

Location – Manchester
Main Duties:
- Accurate and timely management accounts
- Monthly Board Pack ownership.
- Monthly investor and lender reporting.
- Financial accounts and liaising with external auditors.
- Annual budgeting and rolling 13-weekly cashflow forecasting are key outputs from this role. Key contact for all things payroll related. This includes processing and payment of monthly payroll which is calculated by a 3rd Party.
- All aspects of HMRC reporting re encompassed by this role including monthly UK, Dutch and Irish VAT returns, Intrastat and EC Sales submissions, PAYE, and corporation tax quarterly payments on account.
- Managing the control environment sits squarely within this role. Not only does this mean ensuring reconciliations are completed, it requires forward-looking to ensure that preventative controls are in place to avoid problems occurring in the first place.
- An attitude of always seeking improvements in all aspects of this role is necessary to ensure success. This covers financial reporting, forecasting, processes, and controls.
- The successful candidate must be able to lead, manage and develop staff by managing work allocation, effective and appropriate delegation, providing advice and guidance and acting as a mentor. The role will also include participation in cross-departmental projects giving both a finance insight and general business overview to the process.
- Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Hands on, and able to “do the work” as well as manage others.
- Knowledge of all regulatory and financial reporting requirements
- Knowledge and experience in business operations and understanding of the financial drivers of business performance.
- Strong cognitive and analytical ability
