Group Accountant | Central Manchester | Technology | Private Equity | £50,000-£60,000

Job Overview:

A truly outstanding, Private Equity Backed Technology company based in Central Manchester are looking for a Group Accountant to join their team.

This is a true A* role, and perfect for an ACA Qualified, first or second time mover looking for a career defining role that will offer unrivalled exposure across the full finance remit of a high growth business.

The role will gain exposure to a prominent PE House, work directly with Big 4 advisors, and take responsibility for a wide remit of finance including month/ year end, business partnering, consolidation and commercial analysis.

Operating out of state of the art, shared working environment the organisation promotes an excellent culture, with social events, coffee machines, onsite barista, beer fridge and more. Whilst the social aspect of the role is important, arguably the biggest sell to this role is working alongside a high calibre CFO who has several examples of hiring individuals in similar roles and fast-tracking them into senior finance positions.

Salary: £50,000-£60,000 + discretionary bonus
Location: Central Manchester

Main Duties:
  • Working collaboratively with the team; supporting the production and review of monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare the Group monthly consolidated management accounts, including income statement, balance sheet and cashflow.
  • Development of commentary around management accounts, including in-depth analysis of variances against trends and comparison to budget and prior forecasts.
  • Lead the month-end timetable and process for financial reporting, driving improvements in speed and accuracy.
  • Develop reports to analyse specific P&L and Balance sheet items as necessary.
  • Responsible for revenue recognition accounting and ownership of relevant accounting standards.
  • Ownership of key SaaS metrics reporting, ensuring robust process and controls are in place to ensure that consistent and accurate management information is developed.
  • Responsibility for production of the Group’s consolidated statutory financial statements and associated entity statutory reporting.
  • Managing the year end process to ensure it runs as smoothly and timely as possible.
  • Working with the external Auditor and being a main point of contact for any queries.
  • Prepare written accounting papers to support key management judgements and technical issues as required.
  • Liaise with Group’s tax advisors in the UK and USA to ensure returns and payments are made according to correct deadlines.
  • Production of short-term tactical cashflow reporting, suggesting areas of focus for the business to improve.
  • Dealing with simple FX transactions as required.
  • Leading role in key business processes around subscription management and revenue recognition, including ownership of price books and quoting tools.
  • Opportunity for business partnering with the wider organisation including HR, Operational and Commercial teams to understand and assist with their cost profile and decision-making.
  • Business process improvement – bring financial expertise to key business processes to improve accuracy and operational efficiencies.
  • Continuously seek to improve processes and create a robust controls framework which is scalable to support a business with ambitious plans for growth.
  • Playing a key role in any finance projects, the candidate should be aiming to be a super-user in all finance systems.
Person Specification:
  • ACA Qualified with 1-2 years post qualified experience, ideal for a 1st or 2nd move from practice.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge.
  • SaaS is desirable but not expected.
  • Strong Excel capability.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of disseminating financial information to both finance, and none finance individuals.
  • Experience working in an environment with tight deadlines.
  • High level of ambition to develop their career.
