Job description

The Role:
This is a tremendous opportunity to become a key member of the senior leadership team of a fast-paced, high-growth subsidiary group involved in the distribution of engineered products. Reporting directly to the Group MD with functional reporting to the International divisional CFO and PLC head office, this position will be a critical business partner to the MD as well as the business leadership teams.
Reporting Structure: Financial Controller; functional reporting from divisional finance leads, IT Manager.

Role and Responsibilities:
Partner with Group MD to design and execute business strategy of building high-quality scalable businesses for sustainable organic growth. Provide leadership in the continuous evaluation of short- and long-term strategic business objectives; lead recommendations to enhance commercial and financial performance. Lead financial stewardship and risk management; ensure high standards of governance. Drive continuous improvement in all areas.

A highly effective communicator with the poise to influence a wide group of individuals at all levels. Lead confidently and with composure in the face of ambiguity and uncertainty; to provide predictable, reliable leadership.

1. Performance delivery and financial planning & analysis
• A performance leader, commercially astute, anticipating when actions are needed, prepared to take decisive action.
• Partner with business teams to ensure performance metrics are achieved, constantly scanning to identify
headwinds and tailwinds that will impact the P&L and the performance of the business.
• Ensure accuracy, clarity and timeliness of business financial and DVR reporting
• Provide Group MD with performance and forecast analytics as required
• Effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels

2. Senior Financial Officer
• Lead financial and compliance stewardship for and work closely with the PLC team to ensure a joined-up approach
and maintenance of PLC standards
• Leadership of tax affairs and compliance, working in close co-operation with Diploma Head of Tax.
• Leadership of treasury and cash management strategies

3. Information Technology
• Manage IT Manager and IT strategy, compliance, and risk management.
• Develop, with group businesses the priorities for IT investments and resource allocation.
• Assess current Business Intelligence and Analytics capabilities & opportunities for improvement, to include
Financial Analysis, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, and Operational Performance

4. Strategy Deployment
• Facilitate process for building and refining Strategic Plan.
• Work with business leaders to clearly define growth and profit expansion initiatives.
• Assist Group MD in developing strategic deployment process.
• Ensure good governance on change projects and realisation of investment returns.
• Direct approach to managing risk

5. Mergers & Acquisitions
• Work closely with business leaders and PLC Corp Dev team on M&A targeting and due diligence processes.
• Partner with businesses on integration plans to ensure business goals are achieved.
• Be the custodian of performance to ensure that returns cases are delivered.
6. Organisation & Talent Development
• Establish standard work for business finance teams and senior finance positions
• Partner with businesses on finance talent development and organisational improvements

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
• Qualified accountant
• High degree of intellectual curiosity and analytical skills
• Builds high performance teams through exceptional talent development
• Proactive business partner who “leans into” complex problems
• 12+ years in multiple finance roles (FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, etc)
• Adept at managing Information Technology within organisations and across projects
• Able to confidently and effectively build relationships across a global team
• Excellent communication skills
