The Company

Axon Moore are partnering with a fast-moving, highly acquisitive PE backed business based in Manchester City Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and successful business embracing a period of continued growth who are looking to hire an experienced Head of Commercial Finance.

About the role

This role reports into a high calibre Group Chief Financial Officer, the role is responsible for leading all Commercial Finance activities for the group. This role will involve working closely with the Group Financial Controller, Finance Business Partners, Head of FP&A, CFO and Directors across all areas of the business. The business is highly acquisitive and part of this role will involve leading the M&A activity within the group.

Salary – £85k - £95k + bonus + excellent benefits
Location – Manchester / Hybrid

Main Duties

  • Drive the overall commercial finance strategy during a period of significant growth for the business with a target to double EBITDA over the next 2-3 years.

  • Works closely with / act as sounding board to CEO/CFO/COO on commercial finance matters

  • Lead finance business partnering teams across all group companies

  • Drive better engagement with the rest of the business

  • Work with other functions such as pricing to provide finance support for strategic/ commercial initiatives

  • Lead process improvement initiatives across finance

  • Lead finance support on M&A including due diligence and integration into the group

  • In the lead up to an exit, drive and be responsible for the delivery of the finance data requirements

  • Ad hoc work as directed by the CFO and Exec team

  • Deputise for the CFO as required

  • Manage, coach and develop the Finance team


Person Specification

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified Accountant

  • Previous experience in a similar senior role

  • Private equity experience would be desirable but not essential

  • Experience leading M&A activity and integrating acquisitions

  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills

  • Highly proficient Excel skills including financial modelling

  • Strong leadership and team leadership skills

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills

  • Ability to contribute to and influence senior management decision making to maximise business value

  • Able to present financial information to colleagues in a clear, concise and confident manner

  • Ability to work across several Teams from trainee accountants to CEO and Board level
