Your new company is an SME in Blackpool. They operate within a niche area and are market leaders in their field. They are looking to recruit a Head Of Finance on a permanent basis.

Your new role

• Support the MD in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the company's financial stability and compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal reporting structures.
• Build and lead a strong team, provide guidance, coaching, and development opportunities for employees.
• Provide financial analysis and support as required to the leadership team & MD regarding business decisions and strategies.
• Analyse financial data and provide insights to support short-term and long-term profitability and growth.
• Communicate accurate financial information and performance to the Managing Director in a regular, timely & consistent manner.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks to the company and provide recommendations to the Managing Director as necessary.
• Drive & support the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.
• Prepare and post accurate & timely monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
• Leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and presenting findings to the Managing Director.
• Managing an end-to-end audit process of current systems – while acting as the first point of contact for external auditors.
• Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations throughout.
• Dealing with working capital management and production of cash flow forecasts.
• Leading the team responsible for payroll, VAT and HMRC processes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and financial institutions.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide support to the heads of Operations, Sales & Projects in analysing project performance, maintenance and operation contracts.
• As part of the leadership team work on supporting strategy development and assist the Managing Director on setting goals for growth.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Strong technical knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and experience in managing and developing staff.
• Be able to supply information and prepare reports
• Knowledge of Sage 200 is preferred but not essential.
