Your new role
- Support the MD in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the company's financial stability and compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal reporting structures.
- Build and lead a strong team, provide guidance, coaching, and development opportunities for employees.
- Provide financial analysis and support as required to the leadership team & MD regarding business decisions and strategies.
- Analyse financial data and provide insights to support short-term and long-term profitability and growth.
- Communicate accurate financial information and performance to the Managing Director in a regular, timely & consistent manner.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks to the company and provide recommendations to the Managing Director as necessary.
- Drive & support the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.
- Prepare and post accurate & timely monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries.
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and presenting findings to the Managing Director.
- Managing an end-to-end audit process of current systems – while acting as the first point of contact for external auditors.
- Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations throughout.
- Dealing with working capital management and production of cash flow forecasts.
- Leading the team responsible for payroll, VAT and HMRC processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and financial institutions.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide support to the heads of Operations, Sales & Projects in analysing project performance, maintenance and operation contracts.
- As part of the leadership team work on supporting strategy development and assist the Managing Director on setting goals for growth.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and experience in managing and developing staff.
- Be able to supply information and prepare reports
- Knowledge of Sage 200 is preferred but not essential.
