Job description

I am really excited to be working with a well-established and reputable company based in Middleton, North Manchester, to recruit a Part-Qualified Management Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-known and successful company in the industry who have a dynamic and energised Finance team. This role will support the finance and various other business teams and will aid decision making through financial reporting to the leadership team.

The role will report to the Financial Controller initially and you will have responsibility for accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset reporting and ownership of stock accounting. You will need to have a can-do approach and will be confident and energetic in a business support and business partnering type role.

Salary and benefits:

Salary - £32-35k DOE plus study support, 25 days holiday (3 day Christmas close down is included plus flexible bank holidays, pension, free parking, flexible working around 10-4 core hours and hybrid working is available after probation, but is based around the needs of the business (up to 2 days a week from home). Other benefits include 30% discount, profit share bonus and Bupa health care.

Responsibilities include:
  • Take ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring monthly reconciliations are completed by all relevant members of the finance team, ensuring a robust and consistent reconciliation process is in place
  • Maintain the transactions for accounting for stock including the preparation and submission of monthly tax and duty returns
  • Take ownership of stock accounting for packaged goods, ensuring that month end stock records are accurate for the monthly accounts
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare and post monthly depreciation journals
  • Work with the Property Team to ensure that all CAPEX projects are accounted for correctly and that capital and revenue elements are correctly identified for Capital Allowance purposes
  • Develop knowledge of business taxes with a view to future involvement in preparation of business tax submissions including VAT, PSA and specific Duty taxes.
Experience & Skill Requirements:
  • Previous experience with balance sheets and fixed assets
  • Early stage studier or part qualified ACCA/CIMA
  • Intermediate Excel skills (VLookup/Pivot tables) are essential
  • Good commercial awareness and able to influence at all levels within the business
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate accuracy and pay attention to detail
  • Work in a mature, courteous and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills – approachable and down to earth with good communication skills
