Management Accountant | Central MCR | Series A funded, high growth Tech | £45k-£50k

Job Overview:

Axon Moore are delighted to be working alongside an outstanding organisation based in Central Manchester who are looking to make a key hire to their finance team.

A start-up that is emerging into an SME on the back of continual growth, and 100% revenue growth predicted for the next financial year, is seeking a Management Accountant to report directly to the CFO as they continue this exceptional journey.

This is an essential hire at a pivotal point for the business as they begin to build out a finance function, with future hires in the pipeline at the end of Q2. As the business continues to mature, the CFO is looking for an experienced Management Accountant looking for a highly progressive role that will encompass all areas of a typical finance function, as well gain exposure to the CFO and strategic work.

This is the perfect role for anyone with an SME background, looking to be part of a journey as an organisation strives to achieve its significant potential. With Series A funding already secured, very few opportunities will be available for this type of exposure at this level.

Typical in small tech companies. The organisation has an excellent office environment, with a focus on flexible working (2/3 days in the office) and social events.

Location: Central Manchester
Salary: Up to £50,000

Responsibilities

• Full ownership over the month end close for multiple entities (UK and overseas).
• Balance sheet reconciliations, preparing consolidated management accounts and monthly journals.
• Preparation of the monthly board pack including variance analysis and commentary on actuals.
• Initially taking responsibility of monthly payroll for c. 50 employees before this function is moved to HR.
• Ensure that revenue is accurately reported and recognised.
• Develop and grow a high performing finance function, developing a new finance function alongside the CFO.
• Ownership of Purchase Ledger & sales ledger processing and credit control.
• Submission of payment runs in the bank.
• Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis as required by the wider business.
• Preparation of deliverables for the annual audit.
• Assist the CFO in the preparation and delivery of annual budget and forecasts.
• Review of quarterly VAT return and oversees tax and submission to the tax authorities.
• Formalise and enhance cost control processes, as well as intuitively making improvements to processes and procedures where necessary.
• Work with the wider Ops team to track costs against company budgets.

Person Specification:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA), we would consider someone with an exam left.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience working in a start-up/ SME is essential.
• Willingness to hold a broad role that encompasses all the finance function.
• High level of organisation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where systems are processes are continuing to be implemented.
