Management Accountant | Accounting Firm | Manchester | Hybrid

I am excited to be working alongside a well-established and progressive accountancy firm in Manchester who support a diverse range of clients across a range of sectors. The business place focus upon cutting-edge technology and pride themselves on delivering exceptional services to their clients covering accounting, taxation, outsourcing solutions and advisory services. They are seeking to hire a Management Accountant who will become a pivotal member of their team, driving their services. The successful applicant will collaborate with both clients and internal teams to ensure seamless migration and optimisation of accounting systems, preparation of management accounts for board meetings and efficient financial processes aiding great scope for progression.


Client Relationship Management:
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal finance teams, understanding their evolving needs and proactively suggesting improvements to the finance function and keeping ahead of industry.
  • Review accounting process and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and cost savings through cloud technology.
  • Agree and meet monthly deadlines as set out in Finance Schedules to provide clients with key management information for decision making soon after the month end.
Assisting with Cloud System Implementation:
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Outsourcing and Growth Teams to align the system implementation with the goal setting and business plan of the client.
  • Assist with migrations of accounting software to enhance the client reporting capabilities.
  • Analyse existing accounting processes and Streamline financial workflows by utilising cloudbased tools and applications, enhancing collaboration, and reducing manual tasks.
  • Review the Chart of Accounts and align with reporting requirements and link to Fathom.
  • Collaborate with client internal teams, to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions with overall business operations.
Ongoing Outsourcing and Management Accounts:
  • Complete weekly and monthly outsourcing tasks including bank and credit card reconciliation, process of purchase invoices from Dext, posting wages journals, sales reconciliations, update cashflows etc
  • Prepare management accounts monthly or quarterly using the client accounting system (mainly Xero) and preparing a comprehensive management pack including an Executive
  • Summary by either linking to Fathom or in an Excel format. Using Fathom allows us to bespoke the report to client specific KPI’s, compare to prior years and targets set and explore breakeven analysis.
  • Prepare working papers for each set of management accounts to reconcile all balance sheet items including but not limited to; Journals posted, WIP Analysis, Bad Debt Provision, Bank
  • Accounts, Accruals and Deferred Income, PAYE and Pension Controls, Tax Provision etc.
Quality Assurance:
  • Maintain strict quality control procedures to uphold the accuracy and compliance of all outsourcing services and preparation of management accounts along with full working papers.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure adherence to accounting standards and best practices.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) – Qualified or Part Qualified
  • Proven experience (3 years) managing cloud-based accounting systems and preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., Xero,Dext, QuickBooks Online, Sage Business Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, data security, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex accounting and financial processes and recommend improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate within a team, and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
