Job title:                           Accounts Assistant / Sales Ledger

Reporting to:                    Financial Controller

Salary:                               £26,000 - £30,000

Type:                                  Full-Time


This is a broad Accounts Assistant / Sales Ledger position, with a main purpose of this role is to manage the sales ledger function with responsibility for arranging and processing sales invoices, managing the aged debtors position and actively resolving any outstanding queries. Alongside this the role will include the processing of bank transactions.

The post holder will further contribute to the Finance department’s efforts in ensuring smooth running of the finance operations and in providing a high standard of support to the wider organisation.

Main Duties:

  • Conduct accurate and timely bank postings, ensuring seamless reconciliation of financial transactions to maintain precision and integrity in financial records.

  • Ownership of the sales ledger function, efficiently processing and recording sales invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Reconcile, investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to sales transactions and customer accounts, collaborating with internal teams as needed.

  • Follow credit control procedures and proactively manage the aged debtors position, working to minimise outstanding balances and taking necessary actions to recover overdue payments.

  • Generate and provide regular reports on the sales ledger, offering insights into outstanding balances, cash flow, and other relevant financial metrics.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the sales ledger function, contributing to increased efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Assist in the setting up and approval of bank payments and approvals.

  • Support the wider finance function and provide assistance and cover to the transactional team.

Experience needed:

The ideal candidate will have over 1 year experience in finance roles, and will need to have sales ledger experience.
