This is fantastic opportunity for a Senior Practice Director to join an award winning Leeds based Barrister’s Chambers.
The role will report to the Board and work closely with the FD/Head of Service as a part of the senior management team to ensure operational standards and high‐quality service levels are consistently achieved.
A large part of this role will be identifying and implementing strategies for business growth and improving the profile of Chambers with a strong emphasis on developing productive and meaningful stakeholder relationships
The role would be ideally suited to someone who is strong team leader and commercially astute and credible, with a strong focus and passion for business development and marketing.

Working alongside the FD/Head of Services, the key duties of this role will include:
- Devising and implementing the business plan for the relevant areas of the business (to include liaison with external marketing consultant) and contributing to any Chambers‐wide strategy or plan.
- Routine reporting internally and at Board level performance vs plan, costs v income as well as risks and opportunities.
- Development of relevant marketing plans to support the agreed strategy for each relevant area of the business
- Undertake periodic reviews of competitors and identify opportunities for growth.
- Network, build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospect clients across the relevant areas of the business.
- Ensure a coordinated approach to client relationships, identifying opportunities to match client needs to Chambers’ capabilities and execute client relationship plans effectively.
- Proactively identify and coordinate opportunities to cross‐sell, improving internal communications and following up on agreed actions.
- Conduct practice development meetings with members to establish a progressive and effective, long‐term approach to practice development and career targets
- Provide estimates and quotations for significant work / tenders and negotiate and assess fees
- Undertake audits and checking to ensure that all activities of their team are in line with the agreed quality standards.
- Provide leadership to a team of senior and junior staff members.
- Ensure team resources are organised and managed to best meet the needs of the business and in particular clients and members.
- Conduct regular 1‐2‐1’s with Assistant/Practice Directors to identify areas of development and strength.
- Attendance at company Board Meetings and Executive Board Meetings as needed.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a significant track record working at a senior level within a relevant legal practice.
- Have experience of working within a relevant legal field e.g. employment, civil, commercial, or family law.
- Have experience of developing and implementing business plans and business strategies.
- Have experience and knowledge of planning and undertaking business development activities for significant clients.
- Have previous knowledge of marketing, marketing plans and digital marketing principles.
- Have experience of undertaking complex fee and commercial negotiations.
- Have previous experience of face‐to‐face business development
