Job description

Axon Moore is delighted to be working with a very well-established, sector leading business based in Manchester City Centre to appoint a part-qualified Tax Accountant. The business is PE backed, highly acquisitional and are growing! 

Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for the Tax accounting and admin for the whole group of companies. This will cover a range of VAT, corporation and employee-based taxes and you will be speaking to a range of people within the business, inter-departmentally. Experience in an in-house Tax role would be ideal.

Salary and benefits:

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 DOE, hybrid working, discretionary annual company bonus, up to 10% pension, 25 days holiday plus banks, plus your birthday off, development opportunities, city centre location with fantastic tram/train/bus links. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with forecasting for all tax liabilities for cash-flow purposes.
  • Responsibility for the VAT returns for the group, ensuring they are completed to deadlines.
  • Preparation of corporation tax calculations for annual financial reporting
  • Coordinating the annual tax compliance cycle, with internal and external teams.
  • Provide employment tax support to Payroll/HR teams and supporting with the annual tax return.
  • Maintain the group tax and deal with any administration matters and queries.
  • Prepare payments of any taxes due.
  • Supporting with the annual external audit for any Tax related queries.
  • Supporting the Tax Manager with developing the tax control framework including testing and process improvements.
  • Ad-hoc support on any tax related issues as required.
Experience & Skill Requirements:
  • AAT or ATT qualification or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA
  • Previous experience in an in-house tax/finance environment
  • Good knowledge of Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organised, efficient and self-motivated to meet deadlines.
  • A desire for continuous improvement and the confidence to challenge existing processes & procedures and an interest in gaining exposure to other taxes.
