Job description

Axon Moore are working with a highly acquisitive group with revenues in excess of £275 million. They are a high growth business who are looking to appoint a Commercial Financial Controller on an interim basis. The company are mid way through a Private equity deal.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, this role will report directly into the Group Commercial Finance Director with a ‘dotted line’ into the Managing Director.

The successful candidate for this role will take full responsibility for the management and development of the finance function. They will be responsible for adhering to all Company & Group timetables and delivering / presenting financial information in a concise, insightful format for review by the Managing Director & Group Finance team. In addition, they will ensure full compliance with both local & Group policies and relevant accounting standards.

We require a commercially driven, confident, ambitious yet diplomatic individual, who is technically capable, but is also happy to be very ‘hands on’ whilst the business continues to scale.

Duties:
  • Work with Senior Management to influence strategy and drive growth, including forecasting and the delivery of profitability and working capital / cash targets.
  • Support the Company by driving financial performance through value-added insights, analysis and reporting:
-      Identify opportunities to improve profitability and cash conversion

-      Provide insights on key gross margin drivers and how they can influence commercial / operational decisions going forwards

-      Collaborate with internal stakeholders to link business drivers and assumptions to financial outcomes, along with related risks and opportunities.

-      Identify the enablers of change that will help the Company report more effectively and efficiently.

-      Determine how to improve existing systems, tools and processes to capture business intelligence across the Company, and lead on the implementation / integration of any new systems.

-      Focus on business partnering capabilities across the finance function (i.e., supporting key decisions with financial analysis)

-      Managing and challenging all operational functions of the Company day-to-day with numerical acumen.

  • Creation of financial models to assist the commercial team e.g., discounted Return on Investment calculations, costing templates etc.
  • Ensure robust financial controls are created, implemented, and adhered to. Proactively challenging (and improving) the control environment within the Company.
  • Continued development of the Finance function to align with the Company’s strategic direction & growth including the recruitment & management of staff, thus ensuring that the finance team is well organised and efficient.
  • Lead point of contact with Group Finance, Internal Audit & External Advisors including auditors, tax advisors & lawyers as required.
Skills and Experience:
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Private equity experience advantageous
  • Advanced Excel user (essential)
The offices are in South Manchester, as a senior person in Finance, there is a requirement to be in the office most days with a bit of flexibility.
