Job description

Axon Moore are exclusively recruiting an interim Group Financial Controller on behalf of a private equity-backed company that is a UK market leader in the service sector based in Greater Manchester. The role is to cover until the new permanent Financial Controller is in post and could potentially be an interim to permanent opportunity for the right candidate.  The company has grown significantly by acquisition in recent years. As the business enters a pivotal time in the execution of its strategy and with a view to an exit in the future, this is an excellent time to join the business.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will undertake all aspects of financial management including corporate reporting, annual statutory reporting, as well as development of internal policies and procedures. The role will have a strong commercial bias focusing on supporting the management team in ensuring that the business delivers profitable growth in line with our strategic initiatives. Strong communication, time management and organizational skills are a must.

Duties:

Reporting directly into the Finance Director and managing a small team of 3, responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the month end process to deliver timely and accurate monthly reporting timetable
  • Manage a small team of financial accountants
  • Manage the completion of the annual statutory accounts process which currently is c30 entities and two levels of consolidation under IFRS
  • Manage the completion of timely and accurate tax and other statutory returns.
  • Manage and complete of investor/ lender reporting requirements on a frequent basis
  • Develop business processes, accounting policies and testing plans to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Manage our entity rationalisation plan to reduce the size and complexity of the Group
  • Assist with Microsoft Dynamics across all areas of finance.
  • Ensure compliance with the appropriate accounting standards and maintenance of the Group accounting manual
  • Develop local reporting to improve decision making (using Power BI).
  • Keep up to date with technical compliance issues.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned
 


Person Specification


 
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant
  • Technically strong accountant
  • Ability to coach & develop others to improve service delivered and individual performance
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and using technology to improve reporting timelines and standards
  • Business planning and analysis skills
  • Demonstrated track record of working in a medium/ large business and financial reporting experience with multiple legal entities and levels of consolidation
  • Private equity experience would be beneficial
