Job description

Axon Moore are looking for a Group Financial Controller for a hugely successful business based in Greater Manchester.

You will ensure a strong control environment, end to end, across all functions within Financial Operations and mentor a team of qualified accountants.

As Group Financial Controller you will be responsible for Ownership of the core finance functions of accounting for and reporting the businesses financial position and performance, both internally (Executive Team and Investors) and externally via the Annual Report and Accounts.

Duties: 

-       Lead the development and setting of effective financial accounting policies for the Group in line with professional accounting standards, and all legislative requirements.
-       Lead the provision of effective advice and support on technical accounting issues across the Group, including the accounting implications of financing transactions, the use of derivatives, acquisitions and disposals and the structuring of new and/or complex commercial contracts.
-       Lead and direct the production of externally reported financial information, including consolidated financial statements, and for the individual financial statements of all subsidiary companies, ensuring that all comply with the relevant legislative requirements specific to our sector and that disclosure is complete and accurate.
-       Manage the relationship with the external auditors to achieve clean audit opinions across all entities, including the international entities.
-       Lead on the production and evolution of internal and external reporting.
-       Direct the financial consolidation service for the group, including consolidation of business plans, budgets, group management accounts and group statutory accounts.
-       Ensure that we are compliant and assist in developing an efficient tax strategy across all entities.
-       Direct the production of internal and external financial reporting, ERP systems, control procedures, and workflows.
-       Coordinate performance reporting on the delivery of strategic objectives.
-       Assist in the payment and processing of payroll across international entities.
-       Support the budget submission and ongoing budget analysis, including financial performance analysis of the different business units.
-       Develop the management accounts team to ensure that they have progression opportunities, a collaborative approach to all functions and embrace the One Team culture within finance and the whole of the organisation.
-       Facilitate the integrity and privacy of financial data.
-       Work closely with the treasury, FP&A, finance transaction team and financial operations team to ensure integrity of data within D365 and provision of information to the users of the financial information both internally and externally.


Person Specification: 

-       A highly technical accountant, ideally from an ACA background, however we will consider anyone who is technically strong and au fait with audit, tax etc.
-       Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role overseeing financial accounting functions.
-       Strong technical understanding of accounting principles and experience of group audits.
-       Exceptional collaboration skills with a track record of working effectively with wider business stakeholders.
-       Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial numbers into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
-       Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a passion for developing talent and fostering a culture of excellence.
-       Potential to develop into a future senior business leader.
-       Demonstrates positive dissatisfaction and desire for continuous improvement.
